NEW DELHI: In the lengthy and illustrious history of the Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League, Dharamsala holds a legendary status.

In 2010, MS Dhoni famously saved the team in a thrilling last-over finish against a must-win match at this location to propel Chennai into the knockout stages.
CSK eventually went on to win the first of their five IPL championships. Fourteen years later, CSK find themselves in trouble once more against Punjab Kings in Dharamsala.
Ahead of the match at the picturesque ground, CSK shared a video on their official X handle in which their bowling coach Eric Simons talks about his team’s strategies.
Simons says, “We have to focus on one game at a time. Sometimes things don’t go your way, injuries and sicknesses, you get together I think we are at that. We’ve got a few chaps with a few niggles, some decisions will be made in the morning, one or two guys had a bit of a flu last game, but I think they are over it, so I think they’ll be available for selection.”
Talking about the ground, Simons, who hails from South Africa says, “We have some great memories here, last was when South Africa lost to Netherlands, so that’s a great memory. But it’s a great place to play cricket. Not just the view but the whole facility, the stadium, the people, so looking forward to it.”

Although captain Ruturaj Gaikwad is in good form, CSK still need to adjust the pace of their batting in a season where teams have been pushing the boundaries in terms of boundary-hitting.
CSK have not benefited from the dew factor, which has been against them. It has hampered an already ineffective batting line-up, but that shouldn’t be an acceptable reason given that the game is in the afternoon.
