Most digital assets were higher Monday, with Bitcoin gaining as much as 7.1% to $70,816. That’s the first time the token has been above $70,000 in more than a week. Ether was up around 6%, while Solana and Dogecoin were both more than 4% higher.

Almost $900 million was pulled from those ETFs last week, reflecting continual outflows from the Grayscale Bitcoin Trust as well as a moderation in subscriptions for offerings from BlackRock Inc. and Fidelity Investment. The group of 10 funds saw one of the worst weeks of the year since they were launched in January.

“Even though ETF inflows have hit a drag, order books are loaded on the bid side around the 60k area, showing that the market is eager to buy the dip,” said Nathanaël Cohen, co-founder at digital-asset hedge fund INDIGO Fund. “You need to go get the liquidity at lower levels to then catch a bid and generate momentum to go higher.”

The new demand from Bitcoin ETFs has been a main driving force behind the historic rally in the largest cryptocurrency this year. Strong inflows into the funds sparked optimism around an exponential growth of the asset class from a wider range of investors. However, the outsized outflows last week triggered more hedges among traders against lower prices as well as significant liquidations in the leveraged bullish bets in the crypto futures market.

Shares of crypto-related companies also jumped. Bitcoin proxy MicroStrategy gained 20%, crypto exchange Coinbase Global increased 9% and miner Marathon Digital rose 5%.

IPL-17: RCB vs PBKS | Virat Kohli’s exceptional fifty carries Bengaluru to four-wicket victory over Punjab Kings

Virat Kohli produced a quality half-century on a slightly gummy pitch that took the Holi-day crowd on a joyride and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru to a four-wicket victory over Punjab Kings in an IPL match here on Monday .The 177-run target wasn’t a massively tough one, but needed a meticulous scaling down because of the deck’s nature. Kohli (77, 49b, 11×4, 2×6) conducted it to near-perfection as RCB made 178 for six with four balls to spare to register their first win of this IPL.

Rap Mogul Sean Combs' US Homes Raided By Federal Agents

A source confirmed to AFP that Combs was the target of the raids.

Los Angeles:

Homes belonging to Sean “Diddy” Combs were raided by federal agents Monday, with the US hip hop mogul at the center of sex trafficking claims and sex assault lawsuits.

Armed agents from the Department of Homeland Security entered luxury properties on both East and West Coasts of the United States, with video footage showing helicopters circling overhead and a huge law enforcement presence on the ground.

“Earlier today, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) New York executed law enforcement actions as part of an ongoing investigation, with assistance from HSI Los Angeles, HSI Miami and our local law enforcement partners,” the agency said.

A source confirmed to AFP that Combs was the target of the raids.

Media in Los Angeles carried aerial footage of a massive presence at a swanky Holmby Hills residence associated with Combs — an artist and producer also known as Puff Daddy.

Heavily armed agents could be seen all around the sprawling property, with footage showing unidentified individuals being detained at the scene.

Entertainment title TMZ said pictures appeared to show the rapper’s sons Justin and King Combs in handcuffs.

The outlet said it also had footage of a raid on a luxury waterside property in Miami connected to Combs.

There was no immediate official confirmation about what precipitated the raids, but the involvement of Homeland Security in large, coordinated raids in two locations suggests serious allegations.

The development comes with legal pressure increasing on the rapper, who has faced at least four lawsuits from people who say he sexually abused them, with allegations dating back decades.

Last year Combs was sued by former girlfriend Casandra Ventura, who performed under the stage name Cassie and was signed to his Bad Boy label.

The suit alleged he had forced her to perform sexual acts with multiple men over a number of years in cities across the United States.

The suit said that as a result of stops in these different locations, which necessitated crossing state lines, Ventura was the victim of sex trafficking, a federal offence.

That suit was settled, but was followed by others, including one in December by a woman who accused Combs of sexual assault, alleging he and others gang-raped her when she was 17.

Combs and other men, the suit said, plied her with drugs and alcohol before violently raping her repeatedly.

Douglas Wigdor, a lawyer who represents two of the women who have accused Combs of abuse, told AFP on Monday: “We will always support law enforcement when it seeks to prosecute those that have violated the law.

“Hopefully, this is the beginning of a process that will hold Mr. Combs responsible for his depraved conduct.”

Combs has vehemently denied all accusations against him.

Combs, 54, founded the Bad Boy record label in 1993, and was a major figure in hip-hop’s commercialization over the decades that followed. His proteges included the late Notorious B.I.G. and Mary J. Blige.

He is among the industry’s billionaires, not least due to his ventures in the liquor industry.

But contrary to a public image of suave businessman, lawsuits describe Combs as a violent man who used his celebrity to prey on and intimidate women.

Google Doodle Celebrates Bangladesh Independence Day, Know history significance and more

0

On March 26, 2024, Google honoured Bangladesh’s Independence Day with a special Doodle on its homepage, celebrating the nation’s hard-won freedom from Pakistan. The Doodle artwork features the national flag of Bangladesh, depicting a red circle on a green background.

“Today’s Doodle celebrates Independence Day in Bangladesh. The public holiday marks the moment Sheikh Mujibur Rahman declared independence on this day in 1971,” Google Doodle describes.

Bangladesh’s journey to independence was a long and arduous one, marked by immense sacrifice and struggle. The roots of the movement can be traced back to 1947 when the British Indian Empire was partitioned into two independent nations – India and Pakistan. East Pakistan, which later became Bangladesh, was geographically separated from the western wing by over 1,000 miles of Indian territory.

Bangladesh Independence Day History

Tensions escalated as East Pakistanis grew increasingly dissatisfied with the political and economic domination by West Pakistan. The catalyst for the independence movement was the general election of 1970, where the Awami League, led by Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, won a landslide victory. However, the government in West Pakistan refused to acknowledge the results, leading to widespread protests and civil disobedience.

On March 26, 1971, after a brutal crackdown by Pakistani forces, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman declared East Pakistan’s independence as the sovereign nation of Bangladesh. A bitter nine-month war ensued, resulting in the loss of millions of lives and immense suffering. Finally, on December 16, 1971, the Pakistani military surrendered to the allied forces of Bangladesh and India, marking the birth of the new nation.

How is Bangladesh Independence Day celebrated?

Today, Bangladesh Independence Day is celebrated with great fervor across the country and by Bangladeshi communities worldwide. Parades, cultural programs, and tributes to the martyrs of the liberation war are held to commemorate the sacrifices made for freedom. The day holds immense significance as it symbolizes the resilience and determination of the Bangladeshi people in the face of adversity.

Lava Blaze Curve 5G review: A budget phone with a sleek design, vibrant display and more

0

Lava Blaze Curve 5G review: Lava, a prominent Indian smartphone brand, has recently unveiled its newest addition to the Blaze series, the Lava Blaze Curve 5G. This smartphone’s entry in the sub-20K smartphone market, is set to intensify competition. Priced at Rs. 17999, the Lava Blaze Curve 5G is budget-friendly, but it also adds value by bringing a plethora of features housed within a sleek design. In fact, featuring an ergonomic 3D curved design, the phone stands out. In our review, we’ll delve into the various features and enhancements to find out how well all these specs actually translated into performance.

B0CTZM5B5J-1

Lava Blaze Curve 5G Review: Design and Build Quality

The Lava Blaze Curve 5G stands out with its unique curved screen design. Unlike other flat-screen phones, it’s got a sleek look with a smooth matte finish. Instead of a camera island on the back, the cameras are neatly placed individually.

The best part is the curved OLED screen on the front, which is shielded by glass protection. The phone’s frame is made of plastic, which might not be the best, but it’s what you’d expect in this price range. The Lava Blaze Curve 5G looks slim, measuring 8.8mm thick, and weighs 189 grams.

On the bottom of the phone, you’ll find the SIM tray, speaker grille, and a USB type-C port. The volume and power buttons are on the right side, and there’s a fast in-display fingerprint reader. In the box, you’ll find a case, a USB Type-C charger, a USB Type-C cable, and a USB-C to 3.5mm audio jack converter. There are speaker grilles at both the bottom and top, but the latter is just for show- the actual speaker is located beneath the earpiece. Despite this arrangement, the audio quality from both speakers is excellent, with Dolby Atmos support and decent volume levels. Overall, the Lava Blaze Curve 5G has a classy design and feels sturdy.

Not sure which
mobile to buy?

Lava Blaze Curve 5G Review: Display

I’m really impressed by the Lava Blaze Curve 5G’s curved display– it gives the phone a sleek look. It is eye-ball grabbing! The way the back panel seamlessly blends into the display adds to its high-end feel. Plus, having an optical in-display fingerprint scanner is a nice touch.

The phone’s 6.72-inch AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution and a refresh rate of up to 120Hz is awesome for watching videos or playing games. While the bezels aren’t the thinnest, they’re still pretty good. The colours really pop thanks to the display’s peak brightness of 800 nits, making everything look vibrant.

Watching movies or shows on this phone is a blast, especially since it’s got Widevine L1 certification. That means you can stream content in up to FHD resolution on platforms like Amazon Prime Video, YouTube, and Netflix.

But there are a couple of downsides especially accidental touches on the edge of the screen leading to unwanted stuff being toggled, which can be annoying. Also, the screen could have been a bit brighter in direct sunlight.

On the bright side, having a curved screen on a phone at this price point is pretty cool. It feels nice that budget-conscious buyers can get a taste of flagship-level technology without breaking the bank. It’s a neat feature that doesn’t compromise on functionality.

Lava Blaze Curve 5G Review: Camera

When it comes to the camera setup on the Lava Blaze Curve 5G, it’s a mixed bag. You’ve got a 64MP main sensor, an 8MP ultrawide lens, and a 2MP macro unit. For everyday use, it’s okay, but nothing extraordinary. In good lighting conditions, the camera does well with colours, but sometimes it tends to overexpose, resulting in blurry pictures.

The ultrawide lens gives you a wider perspective, but there’s some distortion and loss of sharpness. The main 64MP camera takes its time to process shots, and even then, the quality doesn’t quite match up to other phones in this price range.

I had some trouble with the portrait mode- it just wouldn’t work no matter how many times I tried, which was frustrating. On the bright side, the selfie camera with its 32MP sensor does a decent job with facial details and skin tones.

Overall, Lava needs to step up its game in the camera department. It’s not just about the numbers; it’s about delivering quality shots, especially in today’s world where social media rules.

Lava Blaze Curve 5G: Performance and Battery Life

The Lava Blaze Curve 5G is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7050 chipset, along with 8GB RAM and up to 256GB of storage. With these specs, everyday tasks like browsing the web and using social media apps feel smooth and responsive. Even light gaming is handled well, without any noticeable lag.

One thing I really appreciate is the phone’s clean software experience. It comes with Android 13 right out of the box, and Lava promises two years of OS upgrades. The interface feels familiar and easy to use, and there’s no unnecessary bloatware slowing things down. The 120Hz refresh rate adds to the premium feel of the device, making everything look smooth and fluid. Plus, I haven’t encountered any heating issues during my daily use.

However, when it comes to heavier games like BGMI and Asphalt 9, the phone does struggle a bit. You might notice occasional frame drops, especially during longer gaming sessions. But overall, the Lava Blaze Curve 5G offers a great experience for its price point, with solid performance and reliable connectivity.

When it comes to battery life, you can count on the Lava Blaze Curve to keep up with your daily activities. Whether you’re snapping photos, playing games, scrolling through social media, or making calls, this phone consistently lasts until bedtime with about 25-30 percent battery left. For most people, that means it’s a phone you can go two days without charging. And when it does need a boost, the included 33W fast charger does the job quickly, fully charging the 5,000mAh battery in around an hour.

Lava Blaze Curve 5G Review: Verdict

In my review of the Lava Blaze Curve 5G, I find it excels in delivering an enjoyable multimedia experience and satisfactory performance for casual gaming. The curved screen is a standout feature, though it occasionally presents minor touch sensitivity issues. While the battery life meets expectations, there’s room for enhancement in the camera department. For those prioritizing functionality over top-tier camera capabilities, this device presents a compelling choice. However, if superior camera performance is a priority, alternatives like the Redmi Note 13 5G, realme 11 5G, and Samsung Galaxy M34 5G may be worth considering. Nevertheless, if you value aesthetics, premium build, clean software, and long battery life at an affordable price point, the Lava Blaze Curve 5G would be an appealing option.

Congress leverages Telangana, Karnataka as electoral models

0

In the run-up to the Lok Sabha elections, the Congress seems to have chosen Telangana and Karnataka as pivotal states for its nationwide campaign, aiming for optimal electoral success. According to party sources, it is apparent that the party has formulated an extensive manifesto named ‘Paanch Nyay’ (Five Justice), tailored to resonate with key voter demographics including women, farmers, and youth. The party think-tank is of the opinion that there is a positive response to ongoing welfare initiatives in Telangana.

Notably, the Mahalakshmi Scheme, aimed at empowering women, has received widespread acclaim and serves as a cornerstone of Congress’s electoral strategy, according to party leaders. Their confidence is bolstered by the perceived successful implementation of several promises after coming to power in Telangana.

Expanding its appeal beyond regional boundaries, Congress’s manifesto has garnered significant attention nationwide, according to political analysts. It pledges to provide substantial support to economically disadvantaged women, along with promises of gender parity in central government jobs, which appear to have resonated effectively with female voters, claim Congress leaders.

Furthermore, Congress’ decision to address caste dynamics by enumerating the Backward Classes (BC) population may help the party gain support from marginalised communities, especially given the prevalence of community-based politics. By reaffirming commitment to schemes such as the SC and ST sub-plan and forest land rights for tribal communities, Congress aims to consolidate its support base among these segments of society.

Moreover, the party’s proposals to establish a ‘permanent farmers loan waiver commission’ and expedite insurance compensation for crop losses are aimed at garnering support from the farming community. In the realm of employment, it is said that the Congress’ stance in extending the employment guarantee scheme to urban areas, addressing the issue of unemployment beyond rural settings, will help the party win more seats, as this move is perceived as a strategic manoeuvre to broaden the party’s appeal among urban voters, as indicated in early polling trends.

IndiGo Passenger Shares Pic Of Damaged Luggage, Airline Responds

In the comments section, some users also shared similar incidents.

From missing seat cushions to finding a screw in a sandwich, in recent months, several unusual incidents have occurred on IndiGo flights. Now, a woman recently took to social media to express her disappointment with IndiGo Airlines. Shrankhla Srivastava, an X (formerly Twitter) user, shared a picture on Saturday of her damaged luggage after her Indigo flight. “Dear @IndiGo6E, Thank you for taking care of my luggage,” the user wrote in a sarcastic post and tagged the airlines.

Ms Srivastava’s post soon went viral on social media, prompting reactions from internet users. Her post also caught the attention of IndiGo Airlines, which issued an apology and expressed regret. “Hi, we sincerely regret the inconvenience caused. We request you please allow us some time to check. We’ll connect with you,” the airline tweeted.

Take a look below:

In the comments section, some users also shared similar incidents, while others criticised the airline over poor luggage management.

“Mine was also handled this well in December. Broken handle and cracked shell. I think hard shell bags are not made for airlines,” wrote one user. “Faced a similar issue with them. Ground staff offered peanuts. Not even covering the cost of the bag. Then escalated it to the highest level and got compensation,” commented another.

“Even my suitcase zips were torn apart during indigo luggage handling last Diwali. It was a soft luggage suitcase that’s why too big breakage didn’t occur. I would be traveling soon again, so now I have to replace the zippers of my suitcase within next few days,” said a third user.

“Shifted to a soft bag because I travel every week. I have a question/ if you come across any recommendation of a hard case bag that doesn’t break with rough handling, pls help me (for good karma),” expressed another.

“One of the worst air line I have ever seen.. very arrogant staff who thinks that they are the top of the world .. even the behaviour of the cabin crew is pathetic,” wrote a user.

Meanwhile, earlier this month, a woman took to social media to share her harrowing experience with the airlines. Yavanika Raj Shah, an X (formerly Twitter) user, shared a picture of a missing seat cushion on an IndiGo flight. She was flying from Bengaluru to Bhopal on flight 6E 6465.

The airlines took note of the same and expressed regret. IndiGo said that the cushions were replaced for cleaning and the cabin crew had informed the customers. “Ma’am, thank you for speaking with us. The seat cushions were replaced prior to the flight for cleaning purposes. Our cabin crew promptly informed the customers who were allotted these seats. This is a standard practice for cleaning during transit as and when required,” they wrote.
